The day I stopped only consuming wisdom

It was 2022. I was exhausted — not from work, but from advice. My phone was a cascade of podcasts promising transformation in 10 episodes. My inbox had 14 newsletters, each with 7 habits of something. Instagram fed me a different life philosophy every three scrolls.

I was consuming so much wisdom that I had no time to sit with any of it. Each new insight arrived before the last one had a chance to breathe. I was, in the truest sense, full — and yet somehow starving.

One evening, my father — a quiet, grounded man who has never owned a podcast — sent me a single line on WhatsApp. I don't remember the exact words. But I remember how it felt: like a hand placed gently on a rushing mind. A small stone dropped in still water.

That's when I understood the difference between information and contemplation. Between consuming and absorbing. Between reading more and truly thinking once.

I started sending one thought — just one — to a small group of friends each morning. Not a lesson. Not a productivity tip. Just something worth sitting with over your morning chai. Something to carry into your day without urgency or agenda.
